Diable traded to Nongshim RedForce after FEARX demotion
Embattled ADC Nam "Diable" Dae-geun has been traded by BNK FEARX to LCK rivals Nongshim RedForce just days after the announcement of his demotion from the main roster.
News of Diable’s trade broke on Korean site Daily Esports, who reported that the deal had been brokered mid-week. The trade will see Nongshim’s Kim "Taeyoon" Tae-yoon swap with Diable.
Demoted ADC Diable traded to Nongshim by FEARX
Diable hit the headlines earlier this week after FEARX demoted the ADC to their Challenger roster, FEARX Youth, due to the players conduct. The talented, but clearly divisive player was nonetheless clearly sought after talent, and now a trade with Nongshim RedForce, the team one spot higher in the tables than FEARX, has been brokered.
Early rumors seemed to suggest that FEARX was setting up for a dramatic three-way trade which would have seen multiple players shift and Diable likely head to a team lower in the bracket, such as DRX or SOOPers.
However, due to Diable’s age (18), the player was legal considered a minor (adult status is attained at 19 in South Korea ).
As a result, Diable was subject to a rule within the LCK that meant trades involving minors must have written consent from the player and their legal guardian. The so called “Kanavi” rule (current jungler for Hanwha Life Esports) meant that Diable was able to find a more favorable trade, in this case, to Nongshim RedForce.
Diable joins the roster at a crucial time, with the instant noodle-backed Nongshim RedForce who sit on the verge of playoff contention.
Meanwhile Taeyoon joins embattled FEARX. It’s unknown if Taeyoon will take the main roster job from LCK CL star Kim "Slayer" Jin-young, or if the tradee is heading straight to the Challenger circuit.
