Win Condition Episode #4: Stand-ins take centre stage at PGL Wallachia Season 7

Another week, another Win Condition, as this time we focused out attention on the recently concluded PGL Wallachia Season 7.

It has now been a week since PGL Wallachia Season 7 concluded, but a few days after, we took a deep look into the tournament, its victors, the teams that had a bad time, and everything else in between. Everything revolved around Team Yandex’s brilliant win, utilising a stand-in, the struggles of Team Falcons, and, as usual, we touched on the biggest talking point of David "Parker" Nicho Flores playing alongside Tundra Esports.

Win Condition: The Stand-in tournament

To start everything off this week, our initial discussion revolved around the stand-in situation, with many teams suffering from the plight of visa issues. Mainly, the focus was on MOUZ, as they struggled to find their footing in a dire situation, especially as the reigning champions from PGL Wallachia Season 6. Having been stuck with a stand-in for their first game, MOUZ struggled to get the ball rolling. But there is a chance that the team pulls things back together in the future.

Although Xtreme Gaming and Vici Gaming did not have any stand-in issues, it was an interesting topic to discuss, with the two teams fighting for the top of the China boards as TI heads there this year.

The hot topics

Of course, when discussing this event as a whole, Yandex were a main talking point. Coming in, again, as a team with a stand-in, Yandex braved the waters and came out on top. Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov’s brilliance was a shining example of what the player is capable of. However, with Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin became a strong talking point, as he wins a huge Tier 1 tournament with Yandex before leaving to join the Astini +5 stack in the European Pro League Season 35.

Tundra Esports, on the back of a big win at DreamLeague Season 28, wwas a big story point. Without Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko, Parker stepped in, and the team were able to still manage to find a top 6 finish – even with all the problems surrounding their stand-in prior. But, even so, Pure’s return will be heralded for Tundra at the next event, and Parker will go to the back of our minds… for now.

Falcons were our next topic, having also played with a stand-in. But, as the reigning champions of The International, they definitely are going through a rough patch. PGL Wallachia Season 7 highlighted that the most, with the team not making it through the Group Stage. With that said, Falcons should be a team to bounce back. It is possible that a new patch could help the team, or just higher stakes and a bit of pressure.

Buy and Sell

Six statements and a whole lot of opinions. That is the basics of the Buy and Sell segment, but we give our opinions on some interesting topics. This week we looked at Yandex for the future, Liquid’s consistency, MOUZ’s chances at a comeback, as well as a few other interesting takes.

To conclude, we wrapped up with a quick look at the now ongoing ESL One Birmingham 2026, which stands as one of the top 3 tournaments of the year. With many teams needing to perform well in order to grab some much-needed ESL Pro Tour Points, the tournament is definitely one to look out for.
