PGL Wallachia Season 8 invites revealed; Qualifier teams need not apply
PGL has officially unveiled the 16 invited teams for PGL Wallachia Season 8, setting the stage for the second stop in its 2026 Dota 2 circuit.
Last season Wallachia’s qualifiers were split into only four regions: Eastern Europe, Western Europe, the Americas, and Asia. North America and South America are combined into one “Americas” qualifier. China and Southeast Asia were folded together into “Asia.” And in each region, only one team qualified.
Now, unlike much of the current competitive ecosystem, PGL has doubled down on a fully invited format, with no open or regional qualifiers feeding into the event. It’s a deliberate throwback to a more centralized, invite-driven structure—one that puts added weight on consistency, reputation, and recent results.
The defending champions return
All eyes will naturally fall on Team Yandex, who enter as reigning champions after their breakout victory at PGL Wallachia Season 7.
Their title run marked a defining moment for the roster, and they haven’t slowed down since. Yandex are currently holding strong in the upper brackets of ESL One Birmingham 2026, reinforcing their status as one of the most in-form teams heading into Wallachia.
PGL Wallachia Season 8
Wallachia Season 8 isn’t just another standalone event—it’s the second of three planned 2026 tournaments under PGL’s broader multi-year Dota 2 initiative. The last one for the year is expected to be held in November.
Sixteen teams will gather at the PGL Studios in Bucharest, Romania from April 16-26th to battle for their share of the $1,000,000 prize pool.
As with every PGL Wallachia event since Season 1, Season 8 shares the same format. All 16 teams will begin in a single group, participating in a modified Swiss-style Round Robin Group Stage. All games during this stage will be best-of-three, with the top 8 teams advancing to the playoffs. The remaining 8 teams will be eliminated from the event.
